Description
What is Kybella?
The Kybella ATX-101 (deoxycholic acid) injection is the first and only nonsurgical treatment for moderate to severe fat below the chin (sub-mental fat), popularly known as “double chin.” It is unknown whether kybella is safe and effective in children under the age of 18. Outside of the sub-mental area, it is unknown if kybellaTM is safe and effective.
How does Kybella ATX-101 works?
Synthetic deoxycholic acid is the active component in kybella®. Deoxycholic acid is a naturally occurring chemical that helps the body break down and absorb dietary fat. Kybella® kills fat cells behind the chin when injected, resulting in a visible reduction in fullness under the chin. Because these cells can no longer store or build fat once they’ve been eliminated, you won’t need any more therapy once you’ve achieved your aesthetic goal.
How many kybella sessions will I require?
The amount of treatments vary from patient to patient because everyone’s chin profile is distinct. Based on the amount and distribution of submental fat as well as your unique treatment goals, your healthcare specialist will help you decide how many therapy sessions you’ll need. Each kybella® treatment session should be spaced at least one month apart, and no more than six treatments should be given. 59 percent of individuals in clinical trials received six treatments.
Will there be any negative side effects?
The safety profile of kybella is well-known, and the most common side effects include swelling, bruising, discomfort, numbness, redness, and hardening of the treatment area. Side effects of kybella include difficulty swallowing and nerve injury in the jaw, which can result in an uneven smile or facial muscle weakness. These aren’t all of the probable kybella side effects.
How long will the results last?
Kybella ATX-101 is a fat-cell destroyer that is injected into the fat beneath your chin. Those cells can no longer store or accumulate fat once they have been destroyed. Retreatment with KYBELLATM is not expected once the aesthetic response has been achieved.
